Disco is Dead

When I began work on Dissociation my intention was for it to be a celebration of the Toad Disco persona that I had created for myself. What it ended up being was more of a eulogy. Transferring to a school further away from home, living in a room with limited space and the constant presence of other people, I felt musically disabled. I was used to working in solitude, and I'm still most efficient when left alone. I learned to adapt, but my methods were growing tiresome. Still, I had had my fill of merely being Alex Tedesco and I yearned to be The Toad Disco full-time once more. To me The Toad Disco was music. The thirst I felt in the previous year was still intact, but the means were not. I needed to be The Toad Disco once again. I needed to escape the crippling mundanity that my life had become, and persists in being. I was going to create an ode to escapism; to The Toad Disco. I had been writing songs on acoustic guitar for awhile but I was saving those for something bigger. I had to construct these new tunes in true Toad Disco fashion, building each track piece by piece, not really knowing where it was going until it got there. For instance, I never intended for "Human Eyes" to end in black metal squall. I suppose I knew it was time for The Toad Disco to call it a day when this approach began to grow frustrating. There was never any turning back. I was limiting myself artistically. I couldn't give each song the time and attention it required. I could never make a truely great album the way I was doing things. Dissociation is full of apocalyptic dread, sexuality, and all of the useless little thoughts you have too much time to think about when you live in a place like Mt. Pleasant. I never thought I'd yearn to be back in Livonia. It is also self-referencing, which is a dead-end for any artist hoping to progress their work to the next level. So I've decided that Dissociation is to be the last Toad Disco album, and I won't be looking back anytime soon.

Here it is, the last Toad Disco album ever.

Album Soon

The new album, Dissociation, is almost done. I've got two tracks left to finish up, and I'm going to try to get them done tomorrow. Dissociation will be the final album I release as The Toad Disco, but I will probably continue to update this blog with random noises and things divorced from any actual release.
Talk to you soon,
Alex

Lame Days

Hey people,
I'm currently having loads of computer problems so I may not be frequenting the internet as much as I used to. Right now I'm moving at snails pace recording the new album tentatively titled "Dissociation". Work on the Livonia Records website has come to a halt but most of the catalog is available for download: http://livoniarecords.wordpress.com
Fucking off,
Toad

Phone Calls

Well I didn't die on Monday. Oh Well. I forgot to leave my humility to Matt Landry anyway, so I guess it's a good thing. Anywho, Peter sent me a link to this video out of nowhere, and I'm quite glad about it. It seems some aspiring film-maker has taken a liking to Maybe Livonia.
